TOURNAMENTS 2008-2009
WORDSLEY WASPS TOURNAMENT - SATURDAY 20TH JUNE 2009
Oh what a day! Again the U11's fielded the Hoops and Yellows. With both teams winning their groups they avoided each other until the Final! In the semi-final the Yellows played a strong Kingswinford side made up from players from local sides and an academy player. After losing to them twice in the Kewford tournament revenge was in our sights. A great and determined performance ensured that Yellows would advance after Jacob Lane scored ahat-trick in the game.
The final then was between the Hoops and Yellows, but no matter what the score was the was only won winner today and that was Hasbury Rangers U11's. With the Yellows have better results prior to the final they would have been seen as favourites. However, after a tight affair one goal was enough to seperate the tie when defender Sam Hardwick scored th winner for the Hoops. I was pleased that Sam had scored as he has been fantastic all season playing as a centre-half. Excuses by the Yellows where that they where tired after their great performance in the Semi's and they wanted the runners-up medals as they where better than the Winner's medal!
What a proud day!
Top Goalscorers:
George Thompson = 7
Jacob Lane = 6
Curtis Whalley =5
HASBURY RANGERS TOURNAMENT - SUNDAY 14TH JUNE 2009
The U6's fielded a team and played a series of round-robin games against Kewford, Stourbridge Glassboys, Kegion Lions and Kingswinford. The boys did very well and enjoyed themselves in the hot sun.
In the U11's two teams, the Hoops and the Yellows where entered into our own club's tournament. Again another hot day where the Hoops lost on penalties to Forest Falcons in the semi-finals. The final was contested by the Yellows and Forest Falcons who the Yellows had beaten previously 2-0 in the group stages. After 3 good chances and one where the ball hit the bar and bounced down on the line the Yellows could not score leaving Forest to have one shot and score and win the final. That's football!
KEWFORD EAGLES TOURNAMENT - SATURDAY 30TH MAY 2009
On a very hot day with just one team entered the U11's boys reached the quarter-finals.
WARSTONES FC - 11 A'SIDE TOURNAMENT - SATURDAY 22nd JUNE 2008
After more than 2 hours of football Hasbury Rangers reached the final but lost 3-0 to Shire Oak Saints from the Walsall league. After a penalty shoot-out win in the semi-finals, the boys looked tired in the final. On the way they defeated last season's champions Forest Falcons so all bodes well for the forthcoming season.
Also well done to the Colts for reaching the second stage of the tournament and with only 11 players.
As this was the first time that both teams had played 11 a'side football and little preparation beforehand it was a great achievement for both teams.
HASBURY RANGERS JFC - 7 A'SIDE TOURNAMENT - SATURDAY 14TH JUNE 2008
Hasbury Rangers where successful in beating Wryley Junior Tigers in the Final.

OLDSWINFORD YOUTH FC - 7 A'SIDE TOURNAMENT - SUNDAY 14TH JULY 2007
All three teams entered this tournament but not one managed to progress to the latter rounds.
All of the teams managed to win some of their group games so the competition was useful practice for the forthcomiung season.
The Rangers won 2 games, drew 1 and lost 1 and missed out on qualifying by losing out on a head-to-head record with Brierley & Hagley Celtic. In the final game we bowed out with a win against undefeated Tipton Town (last season's Walsall League Div 1 champions). We needed to win by 2 clear goals to progress but never mind we ended on a winning note.
Well doon to all the players today for playing on a muddy pitch and in terrible weather conditions.
WORDSLEY WASPS FC - 5 A'SIDE TOURNAMENT - SATURDAY 23RD JUNE 2007
Only the Rangers and the South entered this tournament and it turned out to be a successful one for the Rangers. With defenders Sam and Mick away on holiday we decided to play Jack (captain Jack Sparrow) as a defender and be captain for the day and also drafted in Jack Purnell from the Colts to give us some added fire power.
The two Jacks where a revelation with Jack Purnell scoring a thunderbolt header from a cornerin the semi-finals and scoring an early winner in the final against Gornal Colts North.
Group Games Results:
Vs Black Country Rangers Won 1-0
Vs Wordsley Waps Won 3-0
Vs Kewford Eagles East Drew 1-1
QF vs Wordsley Waps Won 3-0
SF Vs Kewford Eagles East Won 2-1
Final vs Gornal Colts North Won 1-0
The Colts also did extremely well after reaching the quarter-finals especially after some players where playing mini-soccer for the first time. However, they where knocked out against first division side Kewford Eagles East.
WITHYMOOR COLTS FC - 6 A'SIDE TOURNAMENT - SATURDAY 16TH JUNE 2007
All three teams entered this tournament and it turned out to be a disappointing weekend for all three teams as none progressed from the group stages. Hasbury South did the best out of the 3 teams when they lost in a play-off to decide who progressed to the quarter-finals.
KEWFORD EAGLES JFC - 5 A'SIDE TOURNAMENT - SATURDAY 2ND JUNE 2007
We entered 3 teams for this competition. Team A consisted of Rangers players, Team B, a mixture of Rangers & Colts and Team C, where represented by players from our new team Hasbury Rangers South.
Team A did well in the group stages winning all their games and did not concede a goal. Team B, also qualified from their group but unfortunately Team C did not.
Into the quarter-final stages and the organisers drew both Hasbury Teams, A & B to play each other. The positive being that one Hasbury team would be in the semi-finals, but negatively, one side would be out. Team A started favourites but the fact that Team B where out to prove a point they defended well and manage to nullify Team A's attacking. When the whistle blew for full-time the game stood at 0-0 and we then ended up in the lottery of a penalty shoot-out. Up stepped George Thompson for Team A but he blasted just over the bar. Ellis then stepped up for Team B and made himself the hero of the day when he blasted his penalty past David Burton.
Well done to all the players who represented Hasbury today.
HALAS HAWKS JFC - 5 A'SIDE TOURNAMENT - SUNDAY 1ST JULY 2006
The Rangers won their third tournament of the summer winning 1-0 in the final against a very strong Halas Hawks side. Most of their players have been selected for local professional clubs' academies and the team have won the league in the last two seasons.
After struggling to hit the net in the group stages we managed to finish 2nd in our group resulting in a quarter-final tie against a strong Real Centro side who had earlier beaten Halas Hawks 4-3. After finishing 2-2 in normal time with goals from Kyle & Dave, Adam Knight slotted home the decisive penalty in the sudden death penalty shoot-out.
The semi-final saw us play Netherton Colts West who we had previously beaten in the final of the Hasbury tournament a couple of weeks previously. Once again we proved to be too strong for them with Adam scoring the winner to give us a 1-0 win putting us into the final.
The final saw us as the underdogs against Halas Hawks. Our lads felt as though they could not win this game but I told them that the Halas team is full of individuals and we play as a team and at our best we could beat anyone on our day. I told them to believe in themselves and play as a team and try to stop Halas from playing. The pep talk must have worked as we stopped them from creating any real chances except from one just before half-time that just went wide, but our players took the game to them and although we ourselves created few chances we did not allow Halas to play. 0-0 at the final whistle resulted in 3 minutes extra-time. Ex-Halas Hawks player Dave had played all match with so much passion to get one over his old team-mates and looked to have worn himself out but then managed a burst of energy to go on a run and slot home a long shot straight into the bottom corner. After some great defending in the final minute of extra-time the whistle blew and we had won 1-0. We had beaten our local rivals and a team who where considered the best at our age group.
This was one of our greatest victories and showed how the lads have developed together as a team over the last 2 years and made me feel proud to be their manager. Well done Lads. Keep the Faith!

HASBURY RANGERS JFC - 6 A'SIDE TOURNAMENT - SATURDAY 17TH JUNE 2006
The Rangers won their second tournament of the summer after not conceding a goal. After a slow start in the group games they showed what they can do on the pitch by beating Droitwich Spa Ravens 3-0 in the quarter-finals. 2 goals from Adam Knight in the semi-finals was enough to see off Rio Saints Juniors. After a goal-less final we held our nerve to win on penalties 5-4.

FENS POOL JFC - 6 A'SIDE TOURNAMENT - SATURDAY 20TH MAY 2006
Rangers won the tournament after remaining unbeaten and conceding only one goal. The best was kept for the final where we beat Brierley Hill Bullets 3-0. A fantasic solo goal from Kyle Jackson gave us an early lead and showed us all why he was last season's top goalscorer, followed by a cracker from defender Sam Jones who played his best game in the final. Kyle added a third to give us our first silverware in the 5 a'side tournaments. Throughout the tournament we where very organised and disciplined. A fantastic team performance from all the players throughout the tournament not forgetting some great saves from stand-in keeper David Sunburk who only let one goal in throughout the tournament. Michael Eaton's goal from a corner in the semi-final that was rewards for excellent defending throughout the tournament and Curtis Whalley who scored in every game except the final. Not forgetting also Ewan Stephenson who stepped up from the Colts and was our midfield dynamo winning tackles and who's passing was excellent.
The Colts managed to keep their best to their last game with a 1-0 win against eventual semi-finalists Warstones. A fantastic top corner shot from Ellis Edmunds proved to be the match winner. A win, draw and 2 games lost where not enough for the Colts to progress further but with 3 lads playing competively for the first time, the Colts can be proud of their performance.
